How can the state help retail

Not a single forum of retailers and public discussions of retail issues in general can do without criticism of the state due to the lack of support for entrepreneurship and the creation of favorable conditions for doing business in the country.

What measures, according to market players, should the state take to develop Russian retail?

“The state would help our company a lot if it would legally oblige development companies and large landlords to conduct lease relations with Russian tenants in national currency, ie in rubles ", - said Igor Vyacheslavovich Subbotin, director of the retail network Ralf Ringer. There is no doubt that Ralf Ringer's wish to tie rental rates to the traffic of shopping centers or establish other (fair on both sides) requirements for the relationship and interactions between lessors and tenants of retail space is shared by other retailers. Igor Subbotin also believes that it would be useful for domestic companies to create tax, advertising and other benefits and preferences for retailers who offer Russian-made goods to consumers.

At an expert meeting of participants in light industry enterprises, held in mid-October, the owner of the large shoe company Bris-Bosphorus Vyacheslav Zykov took the initiative to introduce quotas for retail chains. In particular, he spoke about the complexities of interaction between a domestic manufacturer and large retailers. To solve this problem, he proposed introducing a minimum threshold for the presence of goods of Russian manufacturers on the shelves, and in return provide the retailer with some benefits. He also considers it appropriate to create a separate trading network specifically for the Russian manufacturer. Moreover, the main constraining factor of development - the higher price compared to shoes sewn in Asia - is practically overcome. “We learned to compete with China: to produce better and at an affordable price. Now we need to consolidate the efforts of domestic producers and get state support in order to fully enter the market, ”said Vyacheslav Zykov.
