From 2 to 6 July, Paris hosted the 2017 High Fashion Week. Leading fashion designers have shown a high level of skill, combining exquisite evening dresses with original and daring shoe models.
According to experts from the American edition of Footwear News, in the fall-2017 season, fashion houses have let their imaginations run wild. On the catwalk of Paris Fashion Week, one could see completely unexpected shoe models - from winter boots a la high boots to ballet flats. Designers competed in originality, offering unexpected sculptural forms for open sandals, framing winter boots in fluffy fur of a bright color.
So, Karl Lagerfeld reworked classic Chanel tweed boots into brutal ankle boots with a transparent heel. Some fashion experts joked that by doing so, the designer created his own version of the Eiffel Tower in the field of shoe design.
At Christian Dior, Marie Grazia Chiuri continued to embody her individual brand vision. Inspired by the idea of travel and maps, she designed adventure boots for the new collection, fitted with thick rubber soles.
Jean-Paul Gaultier seems to have been inspired by the same idea of adventure, adorning winter boots for ski resorts with colored fur.
Iris van Herpen chose an architectural style - open sandals with cage heels, imitating the forms of her theatrical couture collection.
The Giambattista Valli shoes also featured sculptural shapes that were paired with a high platform, stiletto heels and floral embellishments.
