Unichel introduces lean manufacturing

The Russian shoe factory "Unicel" has entered the program of increasing labor productivity and expects to raise it by 10-15%.

Increasing labor productivity at the enterprise is part of the national project “Labor Productivity and Employment Support”. A working group has already been created at the factory, which will be involved in the implementation of the project, and employees have been trained. This project will be supervised by specialists of the Federal Competence Center (FCC).

The changes will affect such production areas as procurement and sewing threads, where up to 35% of the total factory output is produced.

Mapping of production processes, implementation of 5С labor organization principles, production control and analysis will become tools for increasing labor productivity.

The main areas in which improvement work will be carried out are the time course of processes, inventory management, loading of personnel, equipment, movement of personnel, volume of batches, quality, time of equipment re-adjustment.

“This project is designed to put the production of shoes on a new footing, without empty time and material losses. Our main goal is to get additional savings and direct it to increase workers' wages, reduce losses and reduce the cost of a pair of shoes, as well as increase production, ”says Vladimir Denisenko, Director General of Unichel shoe factory.

Labor Productivity and Employment Support is a national project implemented by the Federal Competence Center (FCC) in the field of labor productivity. The main task of the project is to ensure the growth of labor productivity at medium and large enterprises of the basic non-resource sectors of the Russian economy by at least 5% per year through the introduction of lean production technologies.
