Adidas posts quarterly growth amid weakening consumer demand

In the first quarter of 2026, German sports brand Adidas achieved a net profit of €482 million, driven by double-digit sales growth despite the extremely volatile market situation, writes Fashion Network.

Revenue from January to March 2026 amounted to €6,6 billion, up 14% year-on-year (excluding currency fluctuations), driven by sales growth in China (+17%) and North America (+12%), and to a lesser extent in Europe (+6%). In euro terms, sales increased by 7% year-on-year.

Growth in the direct-to-consumer channel, excluding partner retail sales, was 22%. Clothing sales grew by 31%, excluding currency fluctuations, significantly outpacing footwear sales (+4%), amid "the intense promotional activity seen in the casual footwear segment in many markets," commented CEO Björn Gulden.
