In December, the French leather industry federation Alliance France Cuir launched a digital campaign to promote the use of genuine leather, titled “Nothing imitates leather as well as leather.”
The campaign, launched in collaboration with the Matter Of Fact agency, is a way to affirm the unique qualities of leather. “Leather is not just a material, it is a wonderful example of a circular economy. A by-product of the food industry, it transforms waste into an ecological and noble product. This know-how, based on our traditions, is fully in line with the values of authenticity and respect for the environment that today's consumers are looking for,” says Alliance France Cuir.
The campaign features a series of visual images that question the proposed alternatives to genuine leather: cactus is 7 times less resistant to bending than leather; and material made from mushrooms is 160 times weaker than genuine leather.
