American premium brand of clothing and accessories for men and women Billy Reid announced the return of shoes to its range. For the past two years, production has been suspended due to supply difficulties, writes WWD.
“From the very beginning, shoes have been a fundamental part of our collection. Due to supply issues over the last couple of years, we were forced to take a break from the category,” explained brand founder Billy Reid Reid. - We are very pleased to resume shoe production together with our long-time partner factories in Italy. We're bringing back some of our favorites from the archives in limited editions and relaunching the category. We will continue to expand our offerings and look forward to sharing our work with you.”
For the relaunch, Reed chose classic silhouettes that are handcrafted by a family-owned business that has been making shoes in Tuscany for three generations.
The first model is the Indianola men's boot, which Reed called the "ultimate all-around shoe" that can be worn with everything from suits to shorts without socks. Chukka boots feature a leather upper, a comfortable flexible sole, a polished toe cap and flat waxed cotton laces. Retail price will be $448.
The second model is the Paglia Motorcycle Boot, crafted from distressed cowhide leather with a side pull zipper featuring Reed's signature stripe. The pair costs $498.
The collection goes on sale on Thursday and will be presented on the Billy Reid website and in brand stores.
