Immediately after the show of the new couture collection Balenciaga autumn-winter'23, which took place in Paris on July 5, the brand launched a capsule collection of shoes, jewelry, bags and glasses. Often haute couture collections lack shoes that meet the standards of craftsmanship put forward by the organizer of the Paris Fashion Week - the Federation of Haute Couture and Fashion.
The brands participating in the haute couture week either use commercial shoes from ready-to-wear collections, or borrow samples from shoe designers, or include shoes that never make it to any retail outlets from the catwalk. Balenciaga decided to fill this gap - writes Footwearnews.com.
The collection, called "Exclusive Release", includes shoes and accessories that were part of the Balenciaga fashion show at the 10 Avenue George V fashion store in Paris. Immediately after the show, the pieces went on sale at the couture boutique and on the Balenciaga website.
The "Exclusive Release" capsule includes Space and Opera pumps for women, classic high-heeled pumps with rounded shapes reflecting Balenciaga's signature figure jackets, and long-toe pumps fitted with an internal prosthesis to give the shoe an extravagant look. For men, the derby versions of the Space and Opera styles are also available in patinated leather or velvet.
Prices for Balenciaga's "Exclusive Release" capsule collection shoes are $3000-$4000 per pair.
The "Exclusive Release" capsule release stated that while items can be viewed on Balenciaga's website, they require a face-to-face meeting to try on and personalize them, in keeping with the custom of couture collections that fall into the "made to order" category.
