German footwear brand Birkenstock is nearing completion of a plant in Pasewalk, Germany, which began in August last year. The 120 million euro ($127 million) project was launched in the Berlin-Szczecin Industrial Park, located about an hour north of Berlin, writes Footwearnews.com.
Birkenstock said construction on the 36-square-meter complex is almost complete. According to the plan, production will be launched in the third quarter of 000.
By the end of March, Birkenstock is set to open an information office in the center of Pasewalk, which will serve as a point of contact for those interested in working at the new factory, with more than 1000 vacancies open to meet production capacity.
“We are currently completing the final foundation work and will begin the interior fit-out of the factory in the coming days,” said Birkenstock Group Chief Technology Officer Mark Jensen. “In April, we plan to begin installing production machines. I am confident that we will be able to get our hands on the first Birkenstock Made in Pasewoke products in October at the latest, as planned.”
It is noted that the popular German shoe brand continues to invest in the development of a retail network in the United States. In December 2022, the brand opened its fourth in-house store at the Marin Country Mart in Larkspur, California. He joined other Birkenstock stores in California and New York.
In November, the Birkenstock Boston Clog clog was the most popular shoe in the world, according to Lyst's "Year in Fashion" ranking, based on an analysis of 200 million users.
