The highlight of London Fashion Week was the presentation by the British brand Ahluwalia of its first collection of shoes, as well as a collaboration with UGG, writes Footwearnews.com.
London-based Indian-Nigerian designer Priya Ahluwalia launched her own label in 2018 after completing a menswear course at the University of Westminster. In the style of the brand, there is a lot from the ethnic culture of India and Nigeria, and the heritage of the British capital is also read.
Last Saturday at London Fashion Week, the brand unveiled a collection of 11 pairs of shoes for men and women, ranging from loafers and boots for men to heels and mules for women.
Presenting her collection of shoes before the show, Priya Ahluwalia made an accent on the heel in the form of the letter "A", which adorns women's sandals with thin straps. "This 'A' heel will be key to taking our shoes forward as we continue to develop new silhouettes," she stated.
Some of the other heels found in the women's line are reminiscent of the Afro-scallop shape, notably in the "Raga Mule" and "Chikari Boot". In the men's line, Tabali boots can be noted, reminiscent of square-shaped shoes, which are popular in Nigerian Lagos.
The show also featured Ugg Neumel High-Top boots. As a result of the collaboration with Ahluwalia, the traditional short uggs were embellished with beads in the characteristic colors of the London brand with an ethno character.
Shoes are made in factories in Portugal. Retail prices for models range from $470 to $1200.
