In the Vitebsk region will create a raw material base for the shoe industry

A powerful raw material base for the footwear industry is planned to be created in the Vitebsk region. According to the chairman of the Vitebsk regional executive committee, Alexander Kosints, in the coming years for the development of the leather, fur and footwear industry of the region on the territory of the Vitebsk fur plant, it is planned to build a large factory for processing leather raw materials and produce leather in the amount of 1 million square meters per year, increase production capacity for the production of footwear at joint open companies with limited liability "Marko" and "Belvest" up to 6-6,5 million pairs per year each. In order to coordinate the work of the organizations of the leather and footwear industry on the basis of the latter, holdings will be created - the leather and footwear "Company" Marko "and the footwear" Company "Belvest".

In order to increase production capacity, it is planned to create new production facilities for each of these companies. The construction sites have already been proposed to the heads of Marko and Belvest.

“When creating new production facilities, the regional executive committee is ready to help with the construction and installation work, but you are responsible for purchasing the necessary equipment and attracting investments for these purposes,” noted Alexander Kosinets, setting the task to implement these projects by July 1, 2014.

Considerable attention during the discussion of the project was given to creating a powerful raw material base for this industry. It is planned that the supply of leathers of cattle and small cattle, pigs, animals will be carried out by the organization of the region. For this purpose, in the districts of the region it is planned to build 21 sheep breeding (on 100 thousand heads) and 15 animal farms.

According to the Economy Committee of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, there are 7 enterprises related to the footwear industry in the territory of the Vitebsk Region, including 4 enterprises that are part of the Bellegprom concern. The footwear industry employs about 5 thousand people.

45,3% of shoes (according to the results of the 2011 year) of the republican total are produced in the region. The production capacity of shoe organizations in the region is 6,57 million pairs per year and is loaded at 95,9%. Over the 9 months of 2012, the shoe enterprises of the region produced 4,7 million pairs, which corresponds to the level of 2011 of the year.
