From September 23 to 25, the 12th international exhibition of franchises BUYBRAND Expo was held in Moscow.
Unpredictable geopolitical situation, sanctions, general economic instability did not prevent foreign companies from participating in the exhibition. This year at the BUYBRAND Expo, 162 brands from 15 countries were represented, including from Germany, Austria, the USA, Great Britain, the United Arab Emirates, South Korea, Italy and others.
During the three days of the exhibition, 9090 visits were recorded. According to Ekaterina Soyak, CEO of EMTG, organizer of BUYBRAND Expo, this interest on the part of entrepreneurs is explained, among other things, by the fact that “in the current market situation, it is profitable for people to invest in buying a franchise, and not in a new business. ".
Almost all participants of the BUYBRAND Expo noted that among the visitors to the exhibition there were a large number of entrepreneurs and investors from various cities of Russia: Ufa, Perm, Krasnoyarsk, Chelyabinsk, Novosibirsk, Vladikavkaz, Krasnodar, Vladivostok and many others. Of particular interest in the franchises presented at the exhibition was seen by guests from Kazakhstan, Moldova, the Republic of Belarus, and other CIS countries.
Experienced franchisors invited their potential partners to complete the negotiation phase and sign new franchise contracts during the exhibition. The leader in the number of transactions was the British company SFC. According to the company’s owner, Andrew Wivers, who has personally come to the BUYBRAND Expo since 2002, only on the first day of the exhibition did his company sign 1 contracts.
Within the framework of the exhibition, the Moscow International Forum "Franchising in an Era of Changes" was held, a landmark event of which was a cooperation agreement signed, on the one hand, by Natalia Zvereva, Director of the Fund for Regional Social Programs "Our Future", and by the President of the Russian Franchising Association (RAF) Merabom Ben-El (Elashvili). The partnership agreement between the Fund and the RAF concerns the joint development and implementation of programs for the development of social entrepreneurship and franchising in Russia. In total, 38 Russian and foreign speakers took part in the business program.
34% of the franchise models presented at the exhibition were catering chains, 45% - retail chains, 21% - services, as well as the production franchise - SunGroup.
For the second time, simultaneously with BUYBRAND Expo, the Moscow International Licensing Salon for brands and images was held. The stands of copyright holders (Disney, Flying Animals, KHL, etc.) presented licensed brands and products that attracted the attention of both manufacturers and participating companies from the franchise sector, and a business program with the participation of leading practitioners was held in the conference hall the global licensed market.
