Chanel continues to strengthen its supplier network and acquires a majority stake in luxury footwear manufacturer Ballin and tannery Conceria Gaiera Giovanni, Worldfootwear.com writes.
“Chanel is a long-term client of both companies, and this decision was dictated by a mutual interest: on the one hand, their need to combine with a reliable partner that can make them visible in the long term, on the other, Chanel's desire to support sectors important to its business and to the luxury market in in general, "- commented in Chanel two recent deals.
The Italian company Ballin is located near Venice, it was founded in 1945 by the brothers Guido and Giorgio Ballin in Fieso D'Artico, the shoe cluster of the Riviera del Brenta. Today the company employs 200 people and has a production capacity of over 250 pairs of shoes per year.
The Conceria Gaiera Giovanni factory was founded in 1946 and is located near Milan, specializing in the production of goat, lamb and calf leather.
Over the past few years, the French fashion house has acquired stakes in a number of other companies. Among them is the Samanta tannery (produces leather with print and embossing); leather goods manufacturers Renato Corti and Mabi (high quality bags), yarn manufacturer Vimar 1991; the Conceria Gaiera Giovanni tannery; Spanish Colomer Leather Group (sheep leather production); French tanneries Tanneries Haas, Mégisserie Richard (sheep leather), Bodin-Joyeux and glove manufacturer Gausse.
