The new deal will help strengthen Chanel's control over leather supply chains. The French luxury brand has already done similar deals in the past, writes Worldfootwear.com.
The agreement between the companies will not change the organizational structure of the tannery, its leaders will remain the same - Chicca Miramonti and Raffaele Mosconi. Founded in 1946, the factory will retain its former customers.
A year ago, Chanel acquired a tannery in Tuscany specializing in the production of printed leather. These deals are helping to strengthen Chanel's control over supply chains. They follow the acquisitions in 2018 of 100% of the Spanish Colomer Leather Group, which specializes in sheep leather, and in 2016, 50% of Mégisserie Richard, which specializes in lamb leathers. In 2013, Chanel bought Bodin Joyeux, in 2012 the Gausse glove manufactory and took control of the French tanneries Tanneries Haas.
