Chanel acquires share of Italian leather factory

The French luxury brand has taken another step towards strengthening its productive resources, having acquired a stake in the business of Conceria Samanta, an Italian leather factory specializing in printed leather. The factory is a long-standing supplier of Chanel, writes Worldfootwear.com.

It took a whole year to conclude a deal, the details of the deal were not disclosed. Founded in the 70s. Attilio Gronchi, the Samanta tannery, is currently run by Attilio's sons, Jacop and Azura Gronchi. The factory is located in the Santa Croce region, employs about 40 people and is known for producing exotic types of leather, printed and embossed leather.

Chanel, owned by the Wertheimer brothers, reported revenue of $11,12 billion in 2018, a 10,5% increase. Last year, Chanel doubled its investment in development to $1 billion (+129%) and confirmed its intention to maintain this investment momentum in 2019.
