Clarks begins active expansion into the walking shoe market

British brand Clarks launched its first shoe specifically designed for walking in 2025. Its Pace and Solevana athletic shoe collections sold well. The brand plans to release new athletic and outdoor footwear models in 2026.

We are “committed to continuing to grow this category by offering a wider range, more affordable prices and more innovative products that will be distributed through direct sales and wholesale in key markets,” the company says.

Clarks recently released the Pace Rise (€130), which "represents Clarks' most advanced walking shoe to date in terms of performance." It features patented Infinity Energy Capsules and dual-layer C360 Foam cushioning—solutions "specifically designed to support the gait cycle through energy return, stability, and impact reduction."

Another new product from the brand is the Pace Move sneakers (€100), which also use C360 Foam cushioning and Infinity Energy capsules.

The Solevana sneaker (€70), "specially designed to provide maximum comfort and help feet recover," became the brand's best-selling sneaker last year.

Both the Pace and Solevana lines exceeded Clarks' sales forecasts, with Solevana surpassing its sales volume targets. Clarks attributes this to its merchandising strategy and value-oriented pricing.

Market data confirms the potential of the walking segment. "More than half of British consumers now walk weekly to stay fit. Global research shows that most walkers wear trainers rather than walking shoes. We have the opportunity to innovate by creating specialized products," the brand asserts.
