At Fashion Week in Paris, David Tourniaire-Beauciel, creative director of luxury brand Clergerie, introduced his favorite shoe model - open-toed mules made from raffia, complemented by striking straw decoration and a metal heel, writes Footwearnews.
Such material as raffia was used in Clergerie shoe collections back in the 90's, models from raffia appeared in the brand’s collection and in the 2019 spring season. At the same time, they personify the future of the brand and pay tribute to its heritage.
David Turner Bossiel spoke of the new iconic model as a mix of the different elements that make up the DNA of the Clergerie brand - straw, a metal heel and an ornament.
Rafia has become a key trend in European shoe collections and Bosel’s favorite material, which was appointed creative director of the brand two years ago.
Other highlights in the new Clergerie shoe collection are clear plexiglass heels and foam soles, which are used in sports shoes.
In addition, in the spring season, 2019 Clergerie released a collaboration with Beijing's very famous and influential stylist Lucia Liu. In collaboration with Liu, a pair of platform sneakers came out decorated with floral embroidery, traditional for the region’s native stylist in China - Sichuan. Bossel called the collaboration with Liu, an opportunity for the brand through influential people to present a new look at the values and traditions of Clergerie.
