Coats Group completes $770 million acquisition of OrthoLite

Coats has become a "super-tier two" footwear component supplier after completing its $770 million acquisition of premium insole maker OrthoLite.

With the acquisition of OrthoLite, Coats is changing its organizational structure. Previously, the company specialized in apparel, footwear, and high-tech materials; now, it will have just two divisions, one for apparel and one for footwear.

Founded in 1997, OrthoLite has become the global leader in the open-cell foam insoles market, with a 36% market share. This segment is expected to have significant growth potential due to the superior benefits of open-cell technology, which provides comfort while also meeting environmental and performance standards.

Additionally, Cirql, a company within OrthoLite, has developed a new patented foam technology for the sole using biodegradable or fully recyclable material. The technology is protected by over 80 patents and is currently in the early stages of commercial development.
