The German retailer has announced the expansion of its portfolio of retail brands in the UK. Last year, the brand opened 9 stores in the UK and brought the number of retail outlets in that country to 102. Further expansion of the retail chain is planned for this year, writes Worldfootwear.com.
In 2018, the annual turnover of the German retail company Deichmann reached 5,8 billion euros due to the company's operations in 25 countries in Europe and the USA. The increase in turnover taking into account the exchange rate difference amounted to 2%. The retailer announced the sale of 178 million pairs of shoes in 2018 through its own chain of stores and through online stores. Sales growth over the previous year amounted to a little over 1%. Like for like growth - 0,1%.
About 60% of the turnover of the Deichmann Group is formed outside Germany. As of December 31 on December 2018, the group managed a network of 4035 stores and 40 online stores and had 40698 employees.
Now the German retailer has set its sights on expanding its retail in the UK, in contrast to other retailers who, on the contrary, are reducing the number of their retail outlets, as online retail is pulling consumers and traditional retail attendance is dropping.
