Demna Gvasalia left Vetements

Demna Gvasalia announced his resignation from the post of creative director of the Vetements brand, which was founded by him and his brother Guram Gvasalia in 2014.

Demna Gvasalia, who has also been the creative director of the fashion house Balenciaga since 2015, explained his departure from Vetements with new projects. “I believe I have fulfilled my mission as a designer-innovator with this exceptional brand,” he said. Guram Gvasalia will remain as CEO of Vetements.

Demna Gvasaliya hails from Abkhazia, from Sukhumi, and the Vetements brand itself can be called post-Soviet - the designer very successfully processes ideas that came from Soviet culture and history, making truly iconic things. Vetements is known for its provocative collections, high-profile collaborations with large brands.
