Dr. Martens closes all its stores in the Philippines
British shoe brand Dr. Martens has announced that it will close all of its stores in the Philippines by December 31, 2022. Before closing, the retailer is selling the collection at a 50% discount, writes Footwearnews.com.
According to the website Dr. Martens operates 2 brand stores in the Philippines.
In November Dr. Martens reported first half revenue growth of 13% to £418,6m, or about $503m at current exchange rates. The company reported growth in all regions, led by America. The shoe brand also said it opened 21 new stores and closed five stores in the first half of the year, bringing the total number of stores to 174.
"While we have economic challenges ahead, we are well positioned for future growth," CEO Dr. Martens Kenny Wilson.
This year in the US, Dr. Martens closed its distribution center in Portland, Oregon between September and October this year, leaving 71 employees out of work. In a statement to FN, the company said the closure came as a result of investment in a new distribution center in Los Angeles, a larger facility designed to support the brand's growth in the US.
