British footwear brand Dr Martens plans to launch a shoe repair service in the UK next month, with the aim of further developing a network of similar repair shops in continental Europe, writes World footwear.com.
In this area, the brand is collaborating with The Boot Repair Company in Leeds. According to Dr Martens chief executive Kenny Wilson, customers will pay £81 ($100,50) to replace a worn-out boot sole - a procedure that requires dismantling the entire boot - while other repairs are likely to be cheaper. A new pair of Dr Martens 1460 boots costs around £169 ($209,68).
Dr Martens CEO also emphasized that he sees the potential to increase the company's revenue by entering the secondary market. Last May, the company launched its second-hand goods marketplace resale service Depop.
