Neon sandals, sneakers inspired by skater culture and platform shoes with an animal print in the Guiseppe Zanotti fall-winter 2019/20 collection are the designer's answer to the global influence of street fashion. Zanotti believes that luxury brands cannot stay away from this trend.
“I want to transfer the emotions that sneakers evoke to women’s heeled shoes,” said Giuseppe Zanotti during the presentation of his fall-winter 2019/20 collection at Milan Fashion Week, pointing to neon-colored platform sandals. “I tried to use a lot of details from the street fashion and the sneaker world when designing high-heeled shoes, like neon colors and some materials.” He stated that he wanted to make peep toe and stiletto heels more technical and less boring, noting that the explosion of street fashion in the last 4-5 years has completely changed the fashion landscape.
“…This has affected not just clothes, shoes or fashion, this is a global phenomenon, this is a digital revolution. Now designers have to figure out what's next. Sneakers are slightly lighter than heeled shoes. We must be realistic and we must change. This is a challenge for me and for many other people,” says Zanotti. In his opinion, luxury brands should create a more differentiated product using innovative materials and new prints.
Zanotti himself included in his fall '19 collection a new model of sneakers called Blabber, it is released in two versions - high and low sneakers in tartan colors. This sneaker silhouette was inspired by skate culture.
In addition, Zanotti took his “jewelry shoes” to the next level by presenting shoes with a massive Swarovski crystal embellishment at Milan Fashion Week.
The line also includes sandals with a stable medium heel decorated with precious stones, silk bows, leopard print, in silver and gold. Animal prints appear everywhere in the collection, they go in combination with suede, patent leather, python leather.
The collection has expanded the number of models of shoes for every day with an ornament in the form of lacing and with a square toe.
The new Guiseppe Zanotti fall-winter 2019/20 collection will go on sale in September.
