Ecco strengthens its presence in Italy

The Danish footwear and leather goods brand Ecco, part of the group of the same name with a turnover of over 1,5 billion euros and operating worldwide, has set its sights on conquering the Italian market, writes laconceria.it.

After 19% growth in Southern Europe between 2022 and 2024, the brand debuts at the iconic fashion trade fair Pitti Uomo, which will be held in Florence from January 14 to 17, and announces plans to develop direct retail sales in Italy. In 2025, in addition to opening its first store in Milan, the company will launch an online store in Italy.

“Southern Europe is a key region for Ecco, where we are seeing significant growth due to the attractiveness of tourist destinations. We expect growth of 10% in 2025,” comments Silvia Capozza, General Manager for Southern Europe at Ecco.

She noted that today Ecco sells in Italy, where the brand has about 300 retail partners and 700 in Southern Europe, and about 25 direct-management stores are open in Portugal and France. "Italy is on our radar, we are studying the possibility of launching our own retail in Milan," Capozza continues. It was in Milan that the brand opened its offices in 2024. The company is going to expand its staff to strengthen the structure, and by the end of 2025 it plans to launch online sales on the Italian market.

Founded in 1963 in Bredebro, Denmark by Carl Toosbooi, Ecco remains a family-owned business today, led by the founder's daughter, Hanni Toosbooi. The Danish manufacturer operates six factories, four tanneries and a fully integrated supply chain. Ecco employs over 22 people.

Participation in Pitti Uomo is part of the brand’s expansion strategy on the international market. “Our presence at Pitti allows us to present technological and unique models, such as our Biom series, which was developed to provide optimal comfort and a unique design. We will continue to collaborate with our partners and expand the retail network to strengthen the brand’s position in the premium segment,” concluded Capozza.
