The Russian brand of shoes and accessories "Econika", following the global trend towards responsible production, has released a capsule collection of shoes, which includes mules made from eco-leather based on coffee pomace, writes New-Retail.ru
In the composition of coffee eco-leather, approximately 18% is powder from dried coffee grounds, about 50% is polyester recycled from plastic bottles. The company notes that the production of this material does not use the toxic solvent dimethylformamide (DMF), which is needed in the "traditional" production of artificial leather. In Ekonika stores and on the website, such models are marked with the “ECO” label.
The next step towards environmental care for Ekonika was the production of shoe boxes, paper bags, labels and instructions from recycled paper certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). And in 2023, the retailer plans to use branded recycled plastic bags.
