Giorgio Presca, who stepped down as CEO of Clarks in February 2021, succeeded Furla COO Davis Bassetto, who also served as the company's interim CEO following Mauro Sabatini's departure in April.
In addition to his work at Clarks, Preska previously served as the CEO of Golden Goose, Geox, and Citizens of Humanity over a 30-year career in the fashion industry, and began his career in the industry at the now-defunct manufacturing giant GFT. He has also held management positions at brands such as Diesel and Levi's.
Giovanna Furlanetto, President of Fondazione Furla, said Presca "is a seasoned leader with the ability to strengthen global fashion brands and drive profitable and secure growth."
The CEO, she continued, “shares our values and our determination to make Furla a truly democratic brand, the only Italian brand in its category. This appointment also highlights the commitment of my entire family to continue to take full control of our business and lead it into the future.”
The last remark is significant, as it was made after several sources suggested that the Furlanetto family was considering selling a stake in the company.
