Export price of footwear fell for the first time in ten years

After a decade of steady growth, the average export price of footwear fell to $2024 in 11,47, according to the APICCAPS (Portuguese Footwear Manufacturers Association) World Footwear Yearbook 2025.

Over the past decade, the average export price of footwear has increased significantly, from $8,83 per pair in 2015 to a peak of $11,98 in 2023, an increase of 36%.

The upward trend is driven by rising production costs, a shift to higher value-added products, and inflationary pressures in global supply chains. However, in 2024, this trend reversed for the first time, with the average export price of footwear falling to $11,47. This decline may indicate an adjustment in product mix or pricing strategies after two years of sharp cost increases.
