Facebook is experimenting in e-commerce

Social network Facebook announced the testing of a new Buy button.

The service is being tested for posts in the "Pages" section and for advertisements. Thus, users will be able to make purchases from the news feed without leaving Facebook.

Currently, tests are conducted with the participation of several small and medium advertisers.

This is not the first attempt by social networks to expand the activities of e-commerce. Earlier on Twitter, they started testing the Buy Now button for tweets. In addition, Twitter and Amazon have entered into an agreement whereby retailer users can add products to their virtual baskets by responding to tweets using an appropriate hashtag.

For Facebook, the current experiment in e-commerce is also not the first. Two years ago, the “Gifts” service appeared on the social network, but this project did not succeed.
