French luxury houses have at least 20000 job openings for specialized workers, according to Comité Colbert, an association representing about a hundred French luxury houses. Demand for luxury goods continues to grow: Consulting firm Bain & Company estimates that the global luxury market will reach €1,4 trillion this year, up 21% from 2021.
In view of the latter, Comité Colbert organized a three-day event to introduce young people to a range of crafts, offering them practice under the guidance of professionals. The association searches for applicants for admission to the academies of such brands as Dior, Chanel, Cartier and others. Les De(ux) Mains du Luxe, which takes place from 10 to 12 December at the world's largest start-up campus in Paris, Station F, "reflects the level of our concern and the urgency of the situation," says Comité Colbert general delegate Benedict Epinay in an interview with Le Figaro .
The strategy to bring students closer to the luxury segment aims to ensure the continuity of know-how transfer on product lines that are directly managed by the brands. The Hermès Craft School and the Institute of High Crafts (Institut des Métiers d'Excellence), which is part of the LVMH, are making the most efforts in this direction.
