Minelli, which had been under external administration since 2023, has entered a new phase of protection.
Founded in 1973, the footwear and leather goods brand, aimed at a women's audience, first entered administration in September 2023. Subsequently, in 2024, it was rescued by three buyers: two private investors and the clothing brand Mes Demoiselles Paris. They transformed Minelli into a new company called Maison Minelli.
The brand has not yet officially declared default. In its first financial year, ending February 2025, Maison Minelli posted a net loss of €4,2 million and revenue of €22 million. According to the court, revenue was €7 million below forecast because 12 of the acquired stores were unprofitable.
By the time Minelli was acquired in 2024, the plan to preserve the brand already included significant job cuts and store closures. Of the 600 employees, Minelli managed to retain only about 213 and 47 of its 120 stores. According to a recent court ruling, Maison Minelli currently employs 171 people.
Going forward, management hopes to revive the brand by “closing unprofitable stores” and using “a new, more prestigious positioning.”
