The French are summing up the results of the annual “Discount for repairs” campaign

On November 7, 2023, France launched program to stimulate shoe and clothing repair "Repair Discount". According to the eco-organization Refashion, a year later, about 826 professional repairmen have used the proposed system. The popularity of the system is gaining momentum. "Repair Discount" today unites 000 certified workshops, including 1530% of brands.

The program offers a discount to customers of clothing and shoe repair shops for repairs of an item in the amount of 6 to 25 euros for clothing and 7 to 25 euros for shoes at the time of payment. In the first year of using this tool, the average bonus applied was 8 euros.

“The results are beyond our expectations,” says Elsa Chassagnette, CEO of the Refashion Repair Fund. “We are seeing a real mobilization of repairers and consumers around this system. The success of the Repair Discount shows that when we provide resources and facilitate access to repairs, an entire ecosystem is activated and responsible habits emerge. Repairing means extending the life of your products, reducing the environmental impact, supporting local know-how by promoting professionals in the sector, and also saving consumers money.”

Refashion says it has invested more than €2023 million since 5 to support the development of repairs in France. The funds were used to recruit certified repairers, provide specific support to industry professionals through training and financial assistance, and launch communication campaigns to encourage the French to repair things.
