Giuseppe Zanotti used denim and tarp to create a new shoe collection
When creating the limited collection of Giuseppe Zanotti shoes, spring-2019, the designer drew inspiration from fabrics, most of which can be easily found in his closet. Denim has become the main motive of the brand’s new collection, Footwearnews writes.
“I like it when my collection has its own story, when it's not an ordinary product,” says Giuseppe Zanotti. “I studied the jeans culture of the last 50 years,” the designer said, joking that he had cut all the jeans from his closet. Taking the recycled fabric that went through about 60 washings and various treatments, he created a denim patchwork and used this fabric collage to create the top of sneakers and Cossack boots.
The designer borrowed techniques that are used in the jeans industry for processing the top - dyeing, bleaching and washing the material in a machine with stones to create the desired effect of scuffing.
Giuseppe Zanotti's son, street artist Ricardo Zanotti, had a hand in creating a new collection. Both father and son worked on a limited edition sneaker with canvas tops, with metal zippers as details, and created a truly hooligan look.
“My son said,“ Your sneakers are very boring, you have to kill them, ”the father laughs. - Then he really ruined them by writing the word “Chaos” on each side.
