According to Yandex.Kassa and the Data Insight agency, sales of goods through Russian social networks, messengers and online boards for the year amounted to 591 million rubles, “Vedomosti” writes.
According to analytics, a total of 2018 million transactions took place at these sites during the year (through March 394 of the year). Most actively sold goods of the categories "clothing" and "shoes", their volume amounted to about 100 million rubles. Analysts equate the size of this market with the volume of traditional online retail in the country.
On-line bulletin boards account for the bulk of sales, the most popular resources are Avito and Yula.
The second most popular sales channel are social networks - Vkontakte, Instagram, Odnoklassniki. They are followed by sites that for a fee provide access to services, goods, real estate, - You Do, Profi and others.
The most popular instant messengers for online commerce are WhatsApp, Telegram and Viber. Messengers account for about 6% of sales.
In Russia, 39 million buyers and 22 million sellers (companies and individuals) participate in such online trading in Russia. For comparison, analysts cite Rosstat data for 2017 for the number of people employed in traditional retail trade - 5,4 million people. It is noted that more than half of sales in the sector of social commerce account for the sale of second-hand items.
