Gucci expands shoe production capacities. Pigini, which specializes in the production of high -quality shoes and is part of the industrial park that is part of the Kering Group Gucci, has begun the construction of the plant in the Italian region with an area of more than 10 m000 D for sewing the top of the shoe, writes Fashion Network.
Pigini was founded in 1979 in Recanati, in the Marche region, a longtime center of Italian shoe production. The company employs 330 people. Pigini said it is building a state-of-the-art plant "in terms of environmental and climate sustainability" that is "equipped with the most advanced production equipment." Construction is expected to start in early 2023 and be completed in early 2024.
Within three years, the new factory will be staffed by about 400 people. The first recruitment campaign will start at the end of this year.
Pigini has set up a training program designed for young people “freshly out of school and the unemployed aged 18 to 26 to train specialist artisans” at the Scuola di Fabbrica Pigini, a vocational school opened in early 2022.
This new program is part of the Gucci Ecole de L'amour initiative, a multi -stage internship scheme at various groups of groups aimed at training artisans specializing in the production of leather and shoes. Since 2018, 200 specialists have been trained as part of the initiative. In 2021, footwear sales accounted for about one-fifth of Gucci's €9,7 billion in revenue.
