The new Hermes factory will open in France in the Auvergne region and will be the seventh leather hub for the French luxury brand. By 2025, 250 new jobs will be created in Auvergne.
Hermes is preparing to open a new production facility in partnership with the local agency Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Entreprises.
“In a spirit of mentoring, based on the transfer of knowledge, craftsmanship and craft culture, the new site will draw on the expertise of the team at the Maroquinerie de Sayat tannery, which was established in Auvergne 20 years ago.” The first recruitment of trainees will begin their training in a temporary workshop in Rioma next November.
Since 2010, Hermes has opened 9 leather workshops and hired more than 2500 craftsmen, bringing the total number of tanners working for the group to over 3800.
