According to statistics from RBC Market Research, shoe imports in Russia in 2016 decreased by 36%. At the same time, the volume of the Russian footwear market in 2016 amounted to 716,4 billion rubles.
The footwear market in Russia has been contracting since the 2015 of the year, so in the 2015 – 2016 years it fell by 21%. The decrease in shoe sales was due to the currency crisis of 2014-2015 of the year in Russia, the devaluation of the Russian currency, which led to a rise in the cost of imported products, lower incomes and lower consumer demand.
