Fewer imported shoes enter the Ukrainian market

Since the beginning of 2012 in Ukraine there has been a downward trend in imports of footwear. This was reported in the Department of Industrial Policy of the Ministry of Economic Development, reports "RBC-Ukraine".

According to the State Customs Service of Ukraine, the volume of imports of shoes so far exceeds exports. However, in recent years, such imports have been gradually declining.

So, in 2010, the import of shoes amounted to 122 million pairs, export - 11,1 million pairs, and in 2011-m - import - 50,4 million pairs, export - 11,8 million pairs.

In January-February of this year, 4,3 million pairs were imported.

In March, Ukrkozhobuvprom reported that in 2011, 58,7% less footwear was legally imported to Ukraine - 50,4 million pairs.

However, according to Ukrkozhobuvprom, the Ukrainian market remains 80% saturated with imported footwear. Thus, the import of footwear became almost completely smuggled, which, against the background of a decrease in the purchasing power of the population, led to a drop in the production of Ukrainian footwear.

Earlier it was reported that the state customs service in order to strengthen control over the sale of foreign goods proposes to introduce the mandatory presence of goods of foreign production of a customs declaration.

“In addition, it is necessary to strengthen control over the sale of foreign-made goods. After all, the presence of illegally imported goods on sale makes legal imports economically inexpedient, and the state does not receive the taxes owed to the budget, ”said Igor Kaletnik, chairman of the State Customs Service.

It is proposed to introduce a mandatory requirement for the presence of a customs declaration on goods of foreign manufacture, on the basis of which these goods were imported into Ukraine and went on sale.

Importers say that the aggressive behavior of customs is caused by the need to raise funds for the budget, as President Viktor Yanukovych has taken a number of measures to remove export and import operations from customs from the shadows and to remove intermediary firms in order to increase the filling of the treasury, newsru.ua writes.
