The series is based on materials from the family archives of the Dassler brothers, founders of sports brands Adidas and Puma, and will tell the story of one of the most fascinating family conflicts in the history of business.
At first, the two brothers Adolf "Adi" Dassler, founder of Adidas, and Rudolf "Rudi", who a few years later founded competitor Puma, ran the family company together. But then they fell out.
The moment of disagreement came during World War II. Adi and Rudi Dassler had joined the Nazi Party in the 1930s, as had most of the business elite. Rudolf fought and was arrested upon his return to defeated Germany. Adolf stayed home and tried to keep the business going. The family's factory was confiscated during the war and converted into a munitions factory.
The new series was written by Mark Williams, who wrote the script for the popular Netflix series Ozark.
According to him, the series promises to be a "drama in the style of Descendants" - an American series about a family that heads a media group in the United States.
