Italy to support Kenya's leather and footwear industries

Assomac, the Italian association of manufacturers of leather, footwear and leather goods machinery, has signed agreements to support the Kenyan leather and footwear industry.

Under the partnership, Italian technology providers will support the transformation of local raw materials into higher-value-added products, helping Kenyan companies integrate into global supply chains.

Equity Bank, a Kenyan bank supporting this collaboration, will provide local buyers with access to financial solutions to enable them to invest in equipment and improve their production capabilities.

The agreements between the parties were formalised in Nairobi during an event dedicated to the leather industry, which took place as part of the Kenya International Investment Conference.

The event was organised by the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry in partnership with the Kenya Leather Development Board and the Kenya Investment Authority.
