The Italian government has set the goal of supporting national companies in the field of leather production, and is ready to invest in projects in the field of digitalization of production and in the development and implementation of innovations in products.
“The Italian leather industry, with its companies scattered in different industrial areas, is an important industry for the production of products made in Italy, from the footwear to furniture sectors, as well as for the automotive industry,” said Italian Minister of Economic Development Giancarlo Giorgetti.
To participate in the competition for a grant, projects must meet the following criteria: the total project cost must be in the range of 50 euros to 000 million euros, and must include industrial research and development that is consistent with the principles of sustainable development.
“MISE (Ministry of Economic Development) is supporting the sector free of charge to help its recovery, which after the COVID-19 emergency showed the first signs of recovery in 2021, but is now facing rising prices for raw materials. The government seeks to find solutions to this problem in order to minimize the impact of negative factors, ”added Giancarlo Giorgetti.
