European manufacturers of clothing, footwear and accessories annually lose € 26,3 billion due to fakes, which is 9,7% of total sales. Such data are provided in the report of the EU agency for harmonization of the internal market (Europe's Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market, OHIM).

Given indirect losses, OHIM estimates producer losses of more than € 50 billion per year. This amount includes € 8,1 billion of lost revenue and € 43,3 billion of losses from counterfeit sales.

The report also notes that the maximum losses from counterfeiting are in Italy, which is losing due to fakes of € 4,5 billion per year and almost 50 of thousands of jobs.
