Kering launches program to support next generation of Chinese designers

French luxury group Kering, which owns Gucci, Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta, Balenciaga, Alexander McQueen, and other brands, is launching the Kering Creative Residency for Artisanship, Fashion, and Technology (CRAFT) program. Developed in partnership with Shanghai Fashion Week, the program aims to support a new generation of Chinese designers. writes Fashion Network.

From 100 applications received, a committee of experts selected 10 candidates for participation in the program. Evaluation criteria included creativity, technical skill, development potential, and ability to thrive in the luxury goods industry.

The first group includes fashion and jewelry designers with a distinctive style who use elements of philosophy and heritage to create contemporary designs that can be in demand on the international market.

Designed as an immersive experience, the Kering CRAFT program will take place in Milan, Paris, and Shanghai. It combines mentoring, hands-on training, and meetings with industry experts. Participants include Feng Cheng Wang, Yueqi Qi, and Jacques Wei, all established international talents, as well as rising stars from the worlds of fashion and jewelry.

The program will begin in May with an initial stage in Italy. Upon completion, the designers will present their final project at Shanghai Fashion Week 2027.
