Chinese clothing suppliers expect prices for synthetic fabrics to rise.

Chinese clothing suppliers are expecting higher prices. The sharp rise in oil prices caused by the war in Iran is driving up the cost of raw materials throughout the supply chain.

Prices for chemical fibers such as polyester and acrylic, petroleum derivatives used in clothing, have risen more than 10% since the US and Israel began airstrikes on Iran more than a week ago, according to seven garment makers in southern and eastern China surveyed by Bloomberg News.

Obviously, prices will also rise for materials for the footwear industry, which also use petrochemicals in their production – soles, glue, some uppers made from synthetic fabrics, artificial leather, rubber, plastic and polymers.
