The rustic style, as something unshakable and close to craft, was reflected in the collaboration between Birkenstock and the Seattle clothing brand Filson, known for its flannel plaid shirts and "farmer" jackets.
Both brands remembered their roots and confessed their love for functional design.
The collaboration includes three shoe silhouettes. Named for its resemblance to Birkenstock's original London sandal, the London Methow features a tumbled brown leather upper with a cork sole and chunky metal buckles. Another version replaces the tumbled leather with stripes of suede in the same rich brown tones.
The collection includes two boot options, as well as a Lahti felted wool boot that is reminiscent of Native American footwear and beyond. Like our felt boots, these fleece-lined boots can be worn indoors or out in dry conditions. The same silhouette is used in the Skykomish, but this boot is also suitable for the harshest conditions thanks to a multi-layered construction featuring signature Filson Tin Cloth, textured rubber, and a microfiber lining.
The Birkenstock x Filson collaboration is already on display at Filson's new Milan flagship store. The shoes take center stage in the retail space, looking authentic enough amid the wood paneling, Aztec-style rugs, and rails of the brand's signature flannel shirts.
