Fendi's new collection, which was unveiled at recent New York and Milan Fashion Weeks, offers a chance to return the festive atmosphere, critics write at Footwearnews.com
Creative director of the brand Kim Jones admitted that when creating images of clothes and shoes for Fendi spring-summer 2022, he drew inspiration from the work of the talented fashion illustrator Antonio Lopez, who in the 70s. changed the idea of fashion illustration and earned the title of chief artist of the "disco" generation.
Thinking about the new Fendi collection, Kim Jones studied Lopez's archives. The artist's influence can be seen in the series of over the knee boots. Using a sophisticated intarsia technique, patchwork fabrics of multi-colored leather were used to create the shoe models, recreating the artist's specific illustrations. A pair of thigh-high white leather boots were inlaid with patches of brown leather to recreate the glamorous women of the discos - the heroines of Lopez's drawings.
