Indian leather and footwear industry to reach $2030 billion by 47,1

India's leather and footwear industry is set to grow significantly by 2030, from the current $17,3 billion to $47,1 billion, according to a document from the Council of Leather Exports (CLE) and the Indian Leather Export Promotion Council outlining the strategy for the sector. which is quoted by The Times of India.

It follows from the document that India sets itself the goal of increasing the country's domestic trade turnover to $33,4 billion and export turnover in the amount of $13,7 billion by 2030 (compared to today's $12 billion and $5,3 billion, respectively).

At the same time, the share of shoes (both leather and non-leather) in the projected sales turnover of footwear and leather products in 2030 should be about 50%. This speaks to the country’s plans to actively develop the footwear industry sector.
