Italian fashion house Gucci, part of the Kering Group, announced the departure of Alessandro Michele from the post of creative director, which he held since 2015. He has worked as a designer for the company since 2002.
In a statement, Gucci highlighted Alessandro Michele's role in making the brand what it is today, paying homage to his "pioneering creativity" that went hand in hand with the "famous codes of the Maison." “The journey that Gucci and Alessandro have traveled together in recent years is unique and will remain a remarkable period in the Maison's history,” said François-Henri Pinault, Chairman and CEO of Kering.
Alessandro Michele himself, in a commentary on his departure from Gucci, noted: "There are times when paths diverge due to different points of view that each of us may have." He thanked the Gucci employees, likening his time at the company to an extraordinary journey spanning more than twenty years.
The Gucci design team will continue to work as usual until the Fashion House finds a new "creative manager".
