Lamoda will come to Ukraine in December
In Ukraine, the launch of the Lamoda store will take place in December, and not next year, as previously planned. This was announced at the Startup AddVenture Summit by the co-founder and head of one of the largest Internet companies in Russia and Kazakhstan, Lamoda Florian Jansen. True, he never named the exact date.
“We don't want to announce something that is not 150% ready, so we are waiting. But I think the launch will take place in December this year. Today we already have a representative office in Ukraine - this is an office in Zhitomir, which employs about 300 people. This is already a working client service, which is still serviced by the Russian branch, but after the launch of the online store in Ukraine, it will take over the service of Ukrainian clients, ”said Florian Jansen.
The company began to recruit staff, in particular, employees of the call center and accounting, in the Ukrainian office in the fall. So far, only a business card site is available on the lamoda.ua domain, which promises the speedy launch of an online store for all regions of Ukraine.
According to Jansen, the most serious obstacle for an online store in the Ukrainian market is logistics, as well as the buyer's reluctance to pay for goods with online cards. In Russia and Kazakhstan, this problem was solved by the introduction of a program according to which the courier who delivered the goods waits 15 minutes until the client examines and tries on all the things ordered. You can pick up and pay only what came up on the spot. Obviously, this practice will work in Ukraine.
By the way, Florian explained the decision to enter the Kazakhstan market first and postpone launching in Ukraine before that the business environment is better in Kazakhstan - it is easier to establish logistics there, much less bureaucracy. And most importantly, e-commerce is almost not developed, so the entry threshold is much lower. “In Kazakhstan, we became No. 1 and got such brand knowledge that in Ukraine it would hardly have been possible to quickly achieve. There, 80% of users received their first online purchase experience in Lamoda.kz, ”Jansen explained.
