LVMH Métiers d'Art acquires Spanish tannery Grupo Verdeveleno
The LVMH subsidiary has acquired Grupo Verdeveleno, a Spanish tannery specializing in the production of exotic hides, writes Worldfootwear.com.
The acquisition of the leather business is in line with LVMH Métiers d'Art's mission to support and empower artisans around the world, while promoting the sustainability of the luxury industry through a holistic approach to supply chain management.
“Sustainable development must be pursued more holistically, including economic, social and environmental sustainability to create a complete ecosystem. Our approach is to allow company founders to continue to run their businesses while we bring our expertise in operations, marketing, human resources, research and development and corporate development management,” says LVMH Métiers d’Art CEO Matteo De Rosa.
The LVMH Métiers d'Art division includes 17 companies specializing in the production of leather and metal accessories, with a total revenue of 700 million euros.
The Verdeveleno group includes five Italian, French, one Spanish and one Portuguese companies. The latest acquisition is a Japanese company that produces dark denim in natural indigo. The group also has operations in Australia, Zimbabwe, Louisiana and France.
