French luxury conglomerate LVMH reported revenue growth in the first quarter of 2022 despite the difficult "current geopolitical context" and the impact of the pandemic in China.
“LVMH is off to a good start to the year despite continued disruptions due to the health crisis and dramatic events in Ukraine. All business groups achieved double-digit revenue growth, with the exception of Wines & Spirits, which continued to face supply constraints. The US and Europe also saw double-digit revenue growth, with Asia continuing to grow throughout the first quarter despite the impact of China's tightening of sanitary restrictions in March,” the group said.
Overall, in the first quarter of 2022, the LVMH Group generated revenues of 18 billion euros, reflecting a 29% increase compared to the same period in 2021. Growth of revenue in physical terms amounted to 23%.
In the fashion and leather goods segment, revenue growth in the first quarter of 2022 was 35%, reaching 9,12 billion euros, compared to the same period in fiscal 2021. In physical terms, sales increased by 30%.
Louis Vuitton got off to a good start to the year, while Christian Dior celebrated the opening of its historically first boutique in Paris at 30 Avenue Montaigne, after a two-year renovation. Fendi reports "strong growth driven in part by the success of the Kim Jones collections" while Celine's growth is attributed to "the success of its ready-to-wear and leather goods lines designed by Hedy Slimane." Loro Piana, Loewe, JW Anderson and Marc Jacobs are also recording a good start to the year in terms of sales.
