The Mandarina Duck x Emiliano Ponzi collection is called “Imaginary Journey”, the capsule line includes Logoduck + suitcases, interior covers for transparent Pospicle suitcases, and Revival bags and backpacks.
Inspired by ideas from books by famous writers, the author conveyed the brand's core values, travel and vibrant colors through his creative vision.
“I use visual metaphors to create a story in the space of one picture, like a short film. In my illustrations, the main goal is to create relationships between people and the environment, trying to look at it from different angles, changing the point of view, balancing between the size of the landscape and the person and changing the attitude of man to nature, ”says Emiliano Ponzi.
For the Mandarina Duck capsule, the illustrator fantasized on the theme of travel and imagined an abstract forest in which to get lost. The idea is based on quotes from the books of famous writers Hermann Hesse, Jack Kerouac, Walt Whitman about free and long journeys, when a person discovers this world in new colors, begins to understand the diversity of nature and the real value of travel.
Emiliano Ponzi creates illustrations for The New York Times, Le Monde, The New Yorker, Louis Vuitton, Moma NY, Der Spiegel, Esquire and other media. Among Italian brands, he worked with Armani, Bulgari, Gucci, La Repubblica, Feltrinelli, Lavazza, TIM, Pirelli, Ferrari and the Triennale Design Museum.
